Region 12 Begins Construction for Agriscience Program

Region 12 achieved a major milestone this fall, as construction finally began for Shepaug Valley School’s Agriscience program.

On an early fall morning, after years of debate, planning, and patience, Region 12 finally achieved a major milestone as the first shovel hit the dirt. Construction finally began for Shepaug Valley School’s Agriscience program.

With multiple construction benchmarks along the way, Megan Bennett, the school’s superintendent, is excited for the new students from different towns to be joining Shepaug.

“Six other schools will be joining us at Shepaug,” she said. “We’ll have Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford, Sherman, Danbury and Newtown.”

The learning experience for students at Shepaug has already been enhanced with AGSTEM classes for middle school students. Lori Trovato, the Agriscience Coordinator at Shepaug, is excited about what the ceremony represents.

“The Groundbreaking Ceremony was a really nice way to show how we are moving forward.”

Shepaug’s Agriscience program will create stability for the school in years to come. It will fit seamlessly with the current program bringing new learning opportunities while still supporting other school subjects.
