Shepaug is host to a variety of sports and athletes. One of those  students, Ethan Hibbard, has been fortunate enough to be now signed on to a college team. For Hibbard this was a dream come true. He signed a letter of intent to play at Fairfield University, and will be attending in fall 2019.

So what come next for him now?  For Ethan, his high school career is still not over.

“My preparation is to keep doing well in school and to keep my grades up,” said Hibbard.

Ethan is just as good off the field as he is on the field, being an excellent student in the classroom and kind to all of his peers. His coach, Scott Werkhoven, feels Ethan is an asset to the school and team.

“Off the field, he has excellent work ethic and is a leader,” Werkhoven said.

But Ethan does have other goals in mind outside of baseball. He has the ambition to go to school and become an engineer. He knows that playing college baseball isn’t going to be easy so he’ll have to work hard and earn his spot on the field and balance his coursework.

With all of his high school successes, however, we are assured that Ethan will be able to continue to rise up and play at his best on the field in college and beyond.
